What is this?

Ghent Events is a daily overview of everything happening in Ghent. Concerts, theater, comedy, lectures, markets, workshops, exhibitions, sport, festivals, guided tours - if it's happening in the city, it's here.

We aggregate events from dozens of venues, Facebook groups, municipal calendars, and Instagram accounts into one page. Open the site, see what's on, go.

Why?

The cultural offer in Ghent is enormous, but the information is scattered. Ten websites, three social media platforms, a few newsletters, word of mouth. On any given Tuesday there are things happening that most people will never hear about. A lecture at the university. A jazz session on the Vlasmarkt. A documentary screening you'd love but didn't know existed.

We collect it. Every day. Every source we can find. One page.

There's also a simpler motivation. It's become very easy to stay home. The phone is always there, delivery apps remove the last reason to go outside, and slowly the default shifts from going out to staying in. We wanted to make a small tool that pushes in the other direction. If knowing what's on makes one person leave the house who otherwise wouldn't have, that's good enough.

The drawings

The illustrations on the homepage are original work by local Ghent artists. Not stock images, not AI generated. We wanted the site to feel like it belongs to the city, not like a template that could be about anywhere.

We rotate artists and plan to credit them on the site. If you're based in Ghent and want your work featured, reach out on Instagram.

How it works

We gather event data from public sources: venue websites, cultural platforms, municipal calendars, community listings. The system collects, categorises, and updates daily.

Available in Dutch and English. No accounts, no algorithms, no personalisation. Everyone sees the same complete overview.
